This hot cocoa is a much cleaner, lighter sugar recipe than the store-bought mix. It can even easily be made dairy free. It only require a few simple ingredients and is perfect with a cookie and Christmas music!
What you will need:
Water
Milk of choice
Real maple syrup
Cocoa powder (I like Dutch processed for richer flavor--found at Costco)
Vanilla powder (found at Walmart) OR vanilla extract
Cinnamon
Himalayan pink salt
Peppermint essential oil OR crushed peppermint candy
Marshmallows or your favorite toppings
Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
Ingredients
[Serves 1]
1/2 cup hot water
1/2 cup milk of choice (I like to use vanilla almond)
2 Tbsp real maple syrup
1 Tbsp Dutch processed cocoa powder (or regular)
1/4 tsp vanilla powder OR 1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cinnamon
A pinch of Himalayan pink salt
1 drop peppermint essential oil OR 1 tsp crushed peppermint candy
Optional
2 tsp collagen powder
Toppings
Marshmallows
Whipped cream
Crushed peppermint candy
Grated chocolate
Directions
First heat your water in a liquid measuring cup for 1:30.
Next add your cocoa, cinnamon, salt, vanilla, peppermint oil, and collagen powder if you are adding it.
Using a handheld rapid mixer or whisk, mix all the ingredients well.
Heat your milk of choice for one minute.
Add your milk to your mug, followed by the hot chocolate mixture. Mix everything again.
Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy with a Christmas cookie and some Christmas music!
