This dip tastes just like the Midwest favorite sour cream and onion or dill chip dip. Just make my Dairy Free Ranch Seasoning Mix and add it to your favorite dairy free sour cream. Now you have a dip everyone can enjoy, and trust me, you won't even know it is dairy free! It tastes great with potato chips, carrots, cucumbers and more.

I like to use freeze dried chives and dill for this recipe, they have more flavor than regular dried chives and dill. You can find freeze dried in the refrigerated produce section in the by the fresh herbs. You can also use fresh chives or dill for this dip, you will just need to double the amounts.

Nutritional yeast is the alternative ingredient for milk powder. It helps create that "cheesy, dairy" flavor without actually using dairy. It has several vitamins and minerals and is a complete protein source. However, it is not absolutely necessary if you don't have any on hand. You will also need; onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and dried parsley.

To make the dip, measure out one cup of dairy free sour cream. I used Tofutti brand.

Then mix in the seasonings and herbs. Let it sit in the fridge a few minutes to rehydrate the dried herbs.

Tastes great on potato chips or your favorite veggies! A great alternative that everyone can enjoy!

Ingredients

1 Tbsp nutritional yeast

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried parsley

1 1/2 tsp freeze dried chives or 1 Tbsp fresh chopped fine

1 tsp freeze dried dill or 2 tsp fresh chopped fine

1/2 tsp salt (may need to add additional 1/2 tsp, season to taste)

1/4 tsp pepper

For Dip

1 cup dairy free sour cream (I used Tofutti)

Other recipe idea:

Add to dairy free cream cheese instead to have a tasty, seasoned bagel spread.

Directions

  1. Measure out one cup of dairy free sour cream and add to a small bowl.

  2. Measure out all your seasonings and dried herbs and add them to the sour cream.

  3. If using fresh dill or chives, chop fine and measure out what you need. Then add to the sour cream.

  4. Mix everything together well.

  5. Let it sit in the fridge for about 5-10 minutes to let the dry herbs rehydrate.

  6. Serve with chips or your favorite veggies!
